Greywater Vs Black Water

Q. What is the difference between greywater and blackwater?

A. Greywater is the lightly contaminated wastewater from baths, showers, bathroom sinks and washing machines. Blackwater is the wastewater from toilets, kitchen sinks, floor drains, and dishwashers.


Reuse Water

Q. What is Hydraloop reuse water?

A. "Reuse water" is greywater that has been treated in a Hydraloop device.


Q. Is the treated water from a Hydraloop device safe for reuse?

A. Yes. Hydraloop reuse water is clean, clear and disinfected. The treatment technology has been tested and certified under the NSF-350 protocol and meets the most stringent international standards.


Q. Is Hydraloop treated water safe to drink?

A. A Hydraloop device does not produce potable water. Hydraloop reuse water should not be used for drinking, cooking or personal hygiene. Do not use Hydraloop reuse water in your kitchen, shower, bath, or sinks.


Q. What can I use the reuse water from a Hydraloop device for?

A. The reuse water from a Hydraloop device is suitable for toilet flushing, washing machines, and such uses as garden irrigation, topping up swimming pools, watering vegetable gardens and general cleaning purposes.


Q. Can a Hydraloop device treat greywater that contains a lot of calcium or handle hard water?

A. Yes. Hydraloop devices can treat greywater with any hardness. If your tap water contains a lot of calcium, we recommend descaling your Hydraloop device every six months with 500 cl (1 pound) of citric acid.


Certification

Q. Do greywater recycling devices need certification?

A. Yes. Third party certification is important to ensure the water quality, electrical safety and performance of any greywater recycling device. The level and type of certification you need depend on local plumbing codes and regulations. By installing a third party certified Hydraloop device, you can be reassured that it will deliver safe reuse water for non-potable use.
